Juventus sporting director Gontoli attended the Trento Sports Festival today, where he was interviewed by the organizers and spoke openly about Faggioli’s recent illegalities, the form of the Serie A title race, and the state of head coach Massimiliano Allegri’s work.
Faggioli’s illegal incident
“We regret Faggioli’s behavior, but the player himself has made himself known to the investigating authorities. Of course, our task is not only to punish the player, beyond that we have to rebuild the entire ecosystem, and I think we have this obligation to take such responsibility.”
The form of the Serie A title race
“Our primary goal is to return to the Champions League and continue to hone our squad. Some teams are more mature than us, like the Milan duo and Napoli. Last year Juventus actually finished 3rd, but for some off-field reasons we didn’t get what we deserved.”
Head coach Massimiliano Allegri’s working condition
“Allegri is a great manager and I was lucky to meet him. Of course, not only me, but Juventus is lucky to have met Allegri. He’s a manager with a strong personality who builds the team the way he wants it to be. What I appreciate most is that he is very committed to his job and is as enthusiastic as a newcomer to the game.”
