The Oregon men’s golf team is ranked No. 17 in the inaugural College Golf Rankings released Wednesday. The rankings were determined by a new point system that was first adopted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) this season.
After four tournaments in the fall, Oregon has an average score of 49.25. The top event of the fall season for the Ducks was the Ben Hogan University Invitational, where they finished four strokes behind the leader and fourth on the leaderboard.
Nate Stember is the Ducks’ highest-ranked player at No. 53 with a 28.52 scoring average.
The new College Golf Rankings are designed to provide a fair, accurate and transparent ranking system that reflects the aspirations and priorities of the NCAA membership. Teams and individuals are awarded points for each tournament based on a variety of factors, primarily using a stroke-earning formula. National rankings are then determined based on the average score recorded by the team or individual.
